i just decided to start using my twitter in a way similar to the way i use facebook, which is to post articles and thoughts on current events and things like that. twitter seems like it’s more suited to that purpose and the tools available to use it (aka the iphone app) are much better. i also just made a tumblr, mostly just to check out what it is.

this is how i see myself using each of these different services:

facebook
purpose: use to keep in touch with people, reach a larger audience
type of posts: posts from here are probably personal and will only go to facebook 
redirection: everything from twitter and tumblr goes here

twitter
purpose: get and share news/articles/quick thoughts
type of posts: articles, videos, pictures, commentary
redirection: tweets also go to facebook
will probably use this most often 

tumblr
purpose/type of posts: repository for long-form thoughts that don’t fit on twitter or facebook
redirection: posts go to twitter and facebook
i probably wont use this very often

i laid this out mostly to clarify how it will work for myself (also, this post will serve as a test of tumblr).
